Seashells- TCC#218

Hi there!  Today I’m sharing a Shabby Chic and Vintage card inspired from The Card Concept’s Mood Board.   TCC#218 The first things that I zeroed in on were the wood grain boards on the shelf, the dominant moody blue color, and the speckled finish on the pottery. I started with grabbing a sheet of a wood grain scrapbook paper, and lined up the design as close as possible to a wood grain embossing folder. (Altenew-Deck Plank 3D) Next, I had two small papers from a Unity kit (I believe) that were gifted to me.  I tore a rough edge and wrapped the over hang to the back to glue in place. I chose a few elements from Stampin Up’s Friends are like seashells set.  I stamped onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper and blended colors with an aqua pen. (Stampin up-Tip Top Taupe, Night of Navy) (Amuse-Eucalyptus pigment ink ❤️) I roughly cut around some of the stamping and partially die cut the large shell.  I took the die cut, and placed it inside the coordinating embossin...

Happy Bee-day TSOT#675

Hi there! This card is inspired from Try A Sketch on Tuesday’s card layout.  ( TSOT-#675 ) I actually had my paper and bees out from a previous card earlier in the week, and wanted to make few cards from this Unity set.   I began by cutting two pieces of patterned paper measuring 4 x 5 1/4.  I flipped over the paper and made a pencil mark from corner to corner to form an X guide line.  I glued each piece onto a white piece of cardstock with the same dimensions.    The bees were colored with ink pads and an aqua pen and fussy cut.   They were embellished with yellow enamel accents.   The sentiment was originally placed directly onto the card front, but a small black triangle made a letter hard to read.  I simply re stamped on cardstock with a small circle cutting die. Gertie and Gus- SSC335

Hello, Today’s card is part of  Sunday’s Sketch Challenge!   SSC-335 It took a few days to percolate on ideas for this week’s sketch, and started thinking of an uphill road.   This little car from Taylored Expressions Gertie and Gus (Ride On) has the duo traveling together.   I began by building the card mat.  I used a DSP sheet from Stampin Up’s It’s My Party 12 x 12 paper pad.   I cut a piece of SU Badic black 4 x 5 1/4.  The designer sheet was cut 1/8th smaller.  For the triangles, I started with 1 - 3 x 3 square, and Cut it into fourths.   I stamped onto watercolor paper, and began to roughly watercolor.  After drying, colored pencil was added to intensify and depth.   Enamel dots were added to the corner of the card and headlight.  Stickles were added to the hub caps.   The sentiment came from Concord and 9th’s Top it off, and Simon Says Stamp- Simon’s Big Birthday. Thanks for stopping by! Valerie Kaye

Tag Challenge #332, 32

Hello! Today’s card is designed with using a tag/Christmas theme.   This challenge is hosted by AUD Sentiments Challenge Blog.   To read more about the challenge and deadline, follow the link here:  AUD Sentiments Challenge #332 , and Weekly Christmas Card Making Challenge #32 (Facebook Group) I made a few similar cards, and this was my favorite.  I began by choosing two patterned papers.  Both the plaid and the garland design came from 12 x 12 paper packs from Michael’s.   The card is a top folded design measuring 4 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches.  The garland mat paper measures 4 x 5 1/4, and the center band measures 2 x 5 1/4.   A die from Unity’s Ornamental Pine set was used to embellish the tag.  I glued 3- trees together.  2- white cardstock, and 1 patterned paper on top.   I found a left over stamped and died banner from Stampin Up’s Etoile Christmas.  The Colors of ink coordinated nicely with the patterned paper, to a...

Color Lifted Snowmen

Hello! It’s forecasted to be 90 degrees today, and here I am making little snowmen!  ðŸ˜†.   I like to get a supply of Christmas cards way before the snow flies.  I still have the Woodland Visitors stamp set from Unity on my craft table.  Today I tried a a different technique and different layout, by lifting ink from a stamped image.   I stamped the image onto watercolor paper.  On some of the shadows, I added a few controlled drops of water and let it set for a minute or two.  Then, using a dry paper towel blotted up the drops.  The result is a distressed effect.   The first card actually was a result of a mistake.  So if you run into a snag, do not dispair!  I initially tried stamping some snowflakes, and had a partial stamp.  Then I tried to re-stamp, and blurred the snowflake.  To correct this, I simply edited by cutting the image into an oval shape.   However, ovals are not in my comfort zone.  I turned ...

Sunday Funday

Hello!  Isn’t this snowman beautiful!  I received this last year as a Christmas present, and I haven’t inked up yet.  This might be my go to Christmas card this year to send out.  This is a Unity Stamp called Woodland Visitors.  The set has the main image and two sentiments.   Initially, I was thinking of making a shaker card, but I just really didn’t want to take away from the image.   I stamped on watercolor paper with Midnight Muse Ink.  The watercolor paper showed a much more detailed impression compared to regular cardstock.   I stamped in Midnight Muse ink from Stampin Up.  Shadows were added with the same ink and an aqua brush.  A few snow flakes were added from Simon Says - Snowflake Edges stamp set.  The smaller, thin lined font fit nicely under the snowman and rabbit.  I also used a few snowflakes to finish off the card. Details: Stamps- Unity - Woodland Visitors, Simon Says Stamp - Snowflake edges Ink / Pa...

Thanks a Buzz-illion!

We just are finishing up a weekend of family over for a birthday celebration.  My older son has a July birthday, and I’m a couple weeks away from mine.   This was one of the stamp sets that I received as a gift, so I thought it would the perfect thank you card to send home with my parents! This great layout is part of Tawny Owl Paperie’s July sketch challenge.  To play along, please use this link :  Sketch 34 Here is the current sketch:  To begin this card, I used a white cardstock base measuremening 4 x 5 1/4”.  Using two patterns of paper, I cut 4- 1 x 3 3/4 inch strips.  The bee was stamped toward the bottom, and then die cut.  The bee was colored with an aquapen, and stamp pads.  To finish him off, I added a small black pom-pom as a big, fuzzy nose.    Details: Stamps: Unity- Bee-Hold Uniquely Unity July 2025 Ink: Versafine- Onyx Black Stampin Up: Pool Party Delightful Daffodil, Rococo Rose.
