In His Hands - Unity Stamps

Hello!  My stamps arrived yesterday and I could not resist playing with this new stamp.   Unity just released some beautiful stamps that could be used for several inspirational , and religious occasions.   I was very fond of this image because I will use it for Easter, New Baby, Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation cards.  (So many uses! 🥰) If you would like this stamp for yourself,  (SHOP HERE) To make this card, I began with rich shades of copper and pecan.   I stamped the image using Early Espresso Ink (SU) onto mixed media paper.  I water colored in a few places using Dusty Durango ink (SU), and a Dark Brown Derwent watercolor pencil, and used an oval die with a deckled edge to cut out. For the flesh tones, I used a marker and scribbled on my glass media mat and picked up the color with an aqua pen.  For the background, I wanted very worn looking paper.  I started with embossing with Old World Paper (EF) - (SU), but actually ...

Just Us Girls #809

Hello!  I finished up a special Valentine/Thank you note today for the Just Us Girls Challenge #809.  The theme this week is to use hearts.  To join along, please click the link -  (HERE) I initially started watercoloring over a white heat embossed heart, but then wanted to see how clear embossing powder would look.   Against the Blue Berry Bushel card stock (SU), the embossed area took on more of a navy color.  I loved the darker color better, so the watercolored version will be made into a second card.  After heat embosding, I used a light blue prismacolor pencil to color highlights on the petals.  - If you don’t have a light blue, the white would work just fine too. The heart image and sentiment are from Unity’s 12/21 Kit of the Month set. (SHOP HERE) The heart was attached to the Poppy Stamps - Flourish background die.  I used Blueberry Bushel cards stock (SU) for the back panel, and Seaside Spray (SU) for the floral overlay.  ...

AAA - Monochrome #301

Good morning, Hope you all are having a great start to the week.  To kick things off, I made a clean and simple card with monochromatic color.  Challenge link here:  AAA #301 To make this card, I grabbed My Monthly Hero Kit 2017-Celestial, and Stampin Up’s Sweet Silouettes. I wanted the girl sillouette to swing from a cloud.  So I took a cloud die and cut a piece of metallic silver cardstock (Recollections)- and positioned into place using a stamp platform.  The girl was positioned into place and stamped with Basic Gray Ink from Stampin Up.   To trim the cloud, I used a frame with a scalloped edge and partially die cut.  Once on the left, and again on the right, making two pieces that fit perfectly against the edge.  To add texture, I embossed the cloud pieces in Stampin Up’s Timeworn Type Embossing folder, then glued into place. The small star was stamped in Ranger Archival Ink - In watering can.   The sentiment was stamped in Versa Fine Ony...

You're the Best - The Paper Funday Challenge #72

Greetings!  Today's Monochromatic styled card was inspired by a fun video I watched the other night.  Alcohol inks on vellum was the technique, and the colors jogged my memory that I had a very similar colored paper in my scrap basket!  If you would like to watch the video, I have it linked right here :  Alcohol on Vellum Technique After watching the video, I wanted to use both my green paper and my never before used embossing folder to make a card.   What I really liked about the video was the combination of the texture of the embossing folder with the paper alcohol ink design.  I never would have thought of putting the two together, but they worked really nicely.   For this card, I began by making a top folding design.  The finished card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2inches.   I had to try a few shades of green cardstock.  Some were two yellow in tone.  This particular shade is called Pretty Peacock, and green with a ...
