You're the Best - The Paper Funday Challenge #72
Greetings!
Today's Monochromatic styled card was inspired by a fun video I watched the other night. Alcohol inks on vellum was the technique, and the colors jogged my memory that I had a very similar colored paper in my scrap basket!
If you would like to watch the video, I have it linked right here : Alcohol on Vellum Technique
After watching the video, I wanted to use both my green paper and my never before used embossing folder to make a card.
What I really liked about the video was the combination of the texture of the embossing folder with the paper alcohol ink design. I never would have thought of putting the two together, but they worked really nicely.
For this card, I began by making a top folding design. The finished card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2inches.
I had to try a few shades of green cardstock. Some were two yellow in tone. This particular shade is called Pretty Peacock, and green with a slight bluish tint to it. I liked the dark contrast the best and embossed the card base, and used Delicata Champagne ink to glide across the raise surface to make the dimension stand out.
I took the green designed paper and cut it down to approximately 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches in size. Next, the circle tree die was cut and adhered to the panel. Gold foil strips were used to border both the top and bottom of the center panel. A small bird was die cut from gold foil and added to the tree.
I loved the diamond style die on the card. However, it took a little while to find a sentiment to fit! I found "You're the Best," and liked how this card sentiment could be used for a Masculine birthday, Father's Day or even a Masculine style Thank you card. It's nice to have flexibility with different occasions throughout the year!
The inside of the card is lined with a Very Vanilla cardstock and a stamped image of a Dad and Son from Stampin' Up - A Good Man set. A extra piece of trim was added to the inside of the card to finish it off.
