Interactive Book Mark Cards

Hi There!  I am finishing up the last of my Halloween themed cards to send off to Cards For Hospitalized Kids.  You can read more information about their wonderful organization here:  (LINK) I decided to make bookmark card that can be enjoyed after the season is over.   We use these corner bookmarks all the time, because they perfectly mark a corner for you.  For a great tutorial to make your own, you can watch Jennifer McGuire’s video here:  (VIDEO) I used the stamps from My Favorite Things - Spooktacular Friends. For the first card, I stamped the haunted house on a piece of Basic Grey cardstock (SU).  I used two shades of purple markers to add details to the house trim.  To create lights, I used yellow acrylic paint and a small brush to the windows.  The mouse was colored with an orange marker and an aquapen.  Wink of Stella was added to the body for extra shimmer, and a small twine bow for dimension.  I was having so much f...

Cards for Hospitilized Kids

Hello! I hope your weekend was great!  We had sunny skies and a very mild day for February in Wisconsin.  It was definitely nice to shed the heavy coat for a while! These temps are just enough for a good tease, and then we’ll be back to the typical cold, wintry weather.   These cards will soon be on their way to hospitalized kids, to cheer them up during their stay.   This card is for the following challenges: All Sorts #843- Embossing -  (Join the challenge here) Can You Handle The Pressure - Use an embossing folder and die cuts, for a twist -  (Join the challenge here) These little girls holding shamrocks came from Whimsical Inklings By Cheryl.  You can find this image and more on her Facebook page.   To create this card, I began with coloring the whimsical designs images.   I used the layout from Creative Collab Crew as my starting point.   This really helps me put a card together!  I chose 3 coordinating prints from Stampi...

“You Are Loved” - Unity Stamps

Good Morning!  I just finished up this adorable raccoon to send to Cards to Hospitalized Kids.  This is a great way if you enjoy making cards, you can send them out to brighten someone’s day!  You can learn how you can help here:  (Cards For Hospitlized Kids Link)  It’s part of two challenges:  ( Word Art Wednesday  #734  - Anything Goes), and ( Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge  (Something new).   Sometimes as I gather ideas for cards, I veer off in other directions.  This was the case making this card.  As I was percolating on ideas, I came across an older sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, and I had the light bulb moment of the stamps and papers to make a card.  (I had a few heart printed thank you sheets from Unity, plus a few of my own scraps)   Here’s the sketch: Details: I had the negative scrap piece with the heart shaped hole from a card I made yesterday, and decided it would make a cute window for t...

Color Dare Challenge # 674

Hello! I hope your weekend was great.  The cool crisp air rolled in today, and before long the midwest will be seeing flurries.   The cool pastels in the  Color Dare Challenge #674 , made me think of arctic polar bears.   Here are the card details; This is a side folding card (A2), measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I began by using a piece of Sea Side Spray (?- Stampin Up. )   I die cut a snow flake pattern from Concord and 9th’s covered Snowfall Card Front die Shop here: ( Concord and 9th)  Then I used Gina K. Designs Master Layouts #9, to cut a small panel. Shop here: ( Simon Says Stamp ) The bear from Spellbinders Holiday Besties set, was stamped in Versa Fine Ink, then colored with Prisma color pencils.   The bear was die cut, popped up on foam, and mounted onto the die cut rectangle. A small iridescent gem was added to the hat, and silver stickles was added to the packages. Thanks for stopping by! - Valerie Kaye

AAA Cards Challenge #300

Good Morning! Today’s card is inspired from the current challenge over at  AAA Cards Challenge #300 . Seeing the little black cat I decided to make a halloween card.  I began making a horizontal top folding card measuring 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. I stamped the Pumpkin from Unity Stamps.  It came as part of a fun door buster,  but if you would like the full stamp set, it’s called “Hey There Pumpkin.” The pumpkin was stamped in Versafine Onyx black ink.  The hat was colored with a purple crayola marker then I added prismacolor pencils over to highlight and shade.  The pumpkin was colored in the same fashion, using an orange marker.   A scrap of DSP was die cut into a rectangular shape, and the pumpkin was mounted on top.  A silver star sequin was used as an embellishment for the hat.   The card panel was positioned onto a stamp platform and the sentiment from SU-Hallows Night Magic was stamped in Gorgeous Grape Ink (SU). Thanks for stopping ...

Cards for Hospitalized Kids

Greetings!   I decided to go through some of my older stamps today and work on making some inspirational, and uplifting cards.  This super-girl is one of my favorites.  She is great for any hard working mom, nurse, college student, or someone who is recovering in the hospital.   That's where this little lady will be heading.  There is a great non-profit, charitable organization that accepts handmade cards for hospitalized kids.  I thought this might lift someone's spirits if they are staying at the hospital.  Cards for Hospitalized Kids is located in Chicago, IL and accepts cards for general, and holidays.  If you'd also like to send some cheer to a child in the hospital, the link is here: Cards for Hospitalized Kids I've made cards for both a girl or a boy.  So there is a Wonder-Woman, an astronaut, and two cards with different color palettes with a rocket.   Both the Astronaut and Super-girl, are from designer Bir...
