Pasta Pals - Birthday Card

Hello! I’m switching gears today and sharing a Birthday card for my son’s birthday next week!  I used the current sketch #38 for Tawnie Owl Paperie’s Inky InspirationChallenge as the starting point for the card.  I started with the Die set from Spellbinders called Pasta Pals.  There are different pasta shapes, and elements that you can build a scene with.  There is also punny sentiments, and a coordinating embossing folder.   (Shop here) I chose Poppy Red, Gumball Green, and Basic Black as the main card colors (SU), and two pieces of yellow scrap in a light and medium yellow shade.   Assembly: The card panel was embossed and set aside.  The ravioli was assembled with the cheeks and mouth in laid in place.  The cheese wedge was assembled with a green bow tie and 1- extra wedge piece was added for dimension.   Details such as the eyes, basil leaves and bow tie were colored with fine tip markers. I realized I ended up reversing the stripe ...

Just Add Ink #770

Greetings!  Tonight’s card is inspired from Just Add Ink’s  Challenge #770 .   This is a side folding card measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I tried to find 3 shades as close as possible to the challenge and used Pink Pirouette, Pale Plum, and Perfect Plum ink from Stampin Up.   I embossed with Stampin Up’s Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder.  I used a brayer to apply the pink, then blended the light and medium shades of purple with sponges.   I decided to add the large sentiment (SU- Night Divine) to the center, and trimmed with a basic black border.   I trimmed the embossed panel down and added a Pale Plum border behind it.   Three iridescent gems were added to the corner for a small embellishment.   Thanks for stopping by! - Valerie Kaye

Just Add Ink#762

Greetings! The weekend is coming to a close and we had a great dinner Sunday night at our favorite Italian restaurant.  I’m still stuffed, but the bruschetta was heavenly!   Before we dressed up for dinner, I sat with my hair in a towel to dry a little and made a card while I waited.  ðŸ˜¬  I saw a great inspiration board at Just Add Ink  Challenge #763 , and loved the plaid and coffee cup.   I used those elements as the ideas for my card.  This card is a side folding card measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.  I really wanted a cozy, winter feel, so I found paper that had small flecks of brown and grey in it.   The die set is from Spellbinders-for July called Mugs and Mittens.   I love the versatility of this set because you can make the clothing look feminine or masculine.  You can make black coffee with cardstock or cocoa, depending on the colors you choose.   I chose Christmas plaid clothing, red mittens, and a green sentimen...
