Relax and Enjoy Your Day! - #322

Hello!  I’m excited to be joining you this week as guest designer  for Seize the Birthday!   This week’s theme is “Green.” I originally was thinking of evergreens and trees, but then I grabbed this quirky little snail and fun bringing him to life! Isn’t he great?  ðŸ’• Card Details: The star of this card is the snail from Unity stamps called “Snailed It.”   I stamped onto Fabriano Mixed Media paper in Evening Evergreen Ink (SU),  and watercolored using a Gumball Green Marker on a glass media mat, with an aquapen.  For my panel, I used Unity’s Postage Stamp Die set, with a green polka dot sheet of paper from Unity’s Domestic Goddess Paper Pack.   I lined the two pieces together, and cut using the postage stamp die.   A strip of Evening Evergreen (SU) was positioned as a border, and trimmed one more time using the die.   I liked the bold script from Stampin’ Up’s On the Horizon Set, and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  The ...

In His Hands - Unity Stamps

Hello!  My stamps arrived yesterday and I could not resist playing with this new stamp.   Unity just released some beautiful stamps that could be used for several inspirational , and religious occasions.   I was very fond of this image because I will use it for Easter, New Baby, Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation cards.  (So many uses! 🥰) If you would like this stamp for yourself,  (SHOP HERE) To make this card, I began with rich shades of copper and pecan.   I stamped the image using Early Espresso Ink (SU) onto mixed media paper.  I water colored in a few places using Dusty Durango ink (SU), and a Dark Brown Derwent watercolor pencil, and used an oval die with a deckled edge to cut out. For the flesh tones, I used a marker and scribbled on my glass media mat and picked up the color with an aqua pen.  For the background, I wanted very worn looking paper.  I started with embossing with Old World Paper (EF) - (SU), but actually ...

Unity - Tone it and Tear it Challenge

Hello!  Today’s card is for Unity’s FB Show and Tell:  Tone and Tear Challenge.  This challenge runs from 2/19 - 3/5.  For my card, I sifted through my stamps and papers for ideas and decided on Pooh Just Knew.  I grabbed some similar shades of brown from Mushroom Meadows and A Little Tenderness paper packs.   I wanted to make Pooh and Piglet look like vintage characters, so I stamped on Canson Mixed Media Paper in Early Espresso ink (SU). I used an aquapen and dabbed the wet brush into Teracotta Tile ink (SU) with a wash of color.  For Piglet, I added a little more water and used Tip Top Taupe (SU). Pooh and Piglet were fussy-cut and set aside. The balloon was stamped onto the peach and white paper from A Little Tenderness and fussy cut also.   The panel was embossed with Time Worn Type - EF (SU). The patterned strips were trimmed, and torn along the edges.   A half circle die was used to cut a piece of vellum behind Pooh and Piglet. ...

Love Because

Hello!  I finally had a chance to color this adorable little bird.  Well I colored it pink, so baby flamingo maybe?  lol.   This card is for CAS Colours and Sketches #577   (LINK HERE) And  CAS on Friday with the theme of Monotone. (LINK HERE) This is a fantastic sketch because it just requires a few scraps.  I have a few ziploc bags of left over strips and found a light, medium and dark shade for the layout.   The sweet bird is from Unity stamps called “Wee Little Love Courier” -  (Shop Here) This is a side folding card A2 size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2in.) The bird was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored with markers.  Wink of stella was added to make the eyes shimmer.   A stamp platform was used to add the sentiment directly to the card panel.   Have a great weekend!  - Valerie Kaye
