Color Lifted Snowmen

 Hello!

It’s forecasted to be 90 degrees today, and here I am making little snowmen!  😆.   I like to get a supply of Christmas cards way before the snow flies.

I still have the Woodland Visitors stamp set from Unity on my craft table.  Today I tried a a different technique and different layout, by lifting ink from a stamped image.

I stamped the image onto watercolor paper.  On some of the shadows, I added a few controlled drops of water and let it set for a minute or two.  Then, using a dry paper towel blotted up the drops.  The result is a distressed effect.

The first card actually was a result of a mistake.  So if you run into a snag, do not dispair!  I initially tried stamping some snowflakes, and had a partial stamp.  Then I tried to re-stamp, and blurred the snowflake.  To correct this, I simply edited by cutting the image into an oval shape.

However, ovals are not in my comfort zone.  I turned to Pinterest for a little creative direction.  I searched oval card layouts and found very universal design.

I began looking for papers, and across the room I saw a great gingham pattern from the October Whit Kit.  The gingham and a neutral leaf pattern were perfect to coordinate with the snowman.

For the square, I used Simon Says Stamp - Joyful frame cutting die.  Using a fine tip glue pen, inlaid the reverse colors.
