Hope Your Day Is As Cool As You Are - Ritas'
Good Morning!
This weather triggered thinking about tropical cabanas somewhere warm and sunny. I don't see a tropical get away in the near future, so I'll have to keep stamping beaches, flip flops and margaritas. 😂
I initially saw a color challenge with the colors pink, green and orange. I instantly thought of tropical, fruity drinks, but veered off and added a bright blue into the mix. That's okay. I enjoyed making a card and I was inspired, so win-win.
When I first began looking through stamps, I could not find a particular set that had champagne glasses and drinkware. I remembered that I had a digital stamp set that I purchased in December with a tropical Santa, and the set had margarita glasses.
Digital stamps come in SO handy when you are looking for a particular theme or image. I first bought the digital stamp set because I was looking for a theme of "Santa on Vacation". I came across a fantastic digital image to color. In addition, there were pre colored images, sentiments, and the additional image of the margarita glasses.
The other huge advantage of digital stamps, and images is that you can adjust the size and positioning without any special tools. Because most of these images are drawn large and scaled down, these images do do not distort when you change the image size. I like to keep digital images on hand simply because they do not require much in the way of supplies. Print, color and assemble. This method is great when you are on the go and want to bring some crafts with you on a trip. I have a nice pencil roll that makes travelling easy when I want to bring a few things to do on a vacation.
Do remember that unless you are working with markers or pencils, that ink jet printers are not friendly to water colors. Laser printers would work better and can also be used with added foil detailing because of the toner. I usually print 4 images at one time, so I have a back up image for future use or boo-boo's. Ask me how I know. I learned the hard way.
To make this card,
I uploaded my purchase image from Jans shop into my Canva account. I was able to size and copy the margarita glasses onto a 4 x 6 card template. Once I was happy with the layout, I changed the transparency to lighten the lines in order to give more of a no line appearance.
Next, I saved and downloaded my image. I went to Avery labels and used a pre designed template. I typically use a post card template for a 1 sided image. This template will copy each image 4- times, on 1 sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I can save the premade template for future use, and print.
The margarita glasses were colored, and die cut. I added a little "salt" on the rims of the glasses using a fine tip glue pen and fine glitter. Small accents were added to the fruit for a little dimension.
