Have a Fan (tache) tic Day!
Greetings!
There are times when I have great ideas to make a card, but just lack the supplies. Here's a perfect example. I have a nephew who be celebrating a birthday soon, and I don't think there would be enough time to shop for supplies.
When you fall into this challenge, shop digital stamps or printable. I have found several great images that are easy to use. Many offer options of being pre-colored to take the the stress out of coloring if you wish. Programs such as Canva or Avery labels have easy to use templates to create your own personalized printable. Some of my favorite images are available on Etsy. You can find great images to color from leehollandart, alldressedupstamps, and JansDigiStampShop. Studio Calico and Power Poppy also have great images to work with as well.
Since the card that I originally selected seemed a little too juvenile for a high schooler, I looked around for a digital image that could be made into a card. I found a great Mustache printable on Pinterest! Click on the blue link above or at the link to print a copy for yourself. These mustache images were originally made for children to give as Father's Day cards, but since the sentiment said "Have a fan (tache) tic day," it also worked for a teenage boy's birthday.
To create your own card, select the color you like and save the image. Next, I went to Avery.com and chose to use a premade template. I found a postcard template that measured the same dimensions as a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I selected and then added my image. The template will automatically place each design on the paper, so I had 4 - panels with a graphic that measured 4 1/2 x 5 1/2. I saved a PDF for future use. I used a lightweight piece of cardstock. Every printer is different, but mine does not like anything over 80lbs.
After the image is printed, I cut the paper down into 4 - 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 pictures, and die cut with a rectangular frame. I added a green border to compliment the bow tie. Since this will be going through the mail, I opted to not use googly eyes. The machines squish them when they are processed. It's a bummer, but I wanted the card to arrived in nice condition. I instead used a small circle punch and made to small black eyes with black scrap cardstock.
I dressed up the envelope and made a liner that looked like newspaper print. I thought this would be a nice compliment to the masculine look of the card. I used part of an envelope die, and trimmed off the bottom, and adhered to the inside of the envelope.
Thanks for stopping by!-Valerie Kaye
