Paper Pad Busting! - TSOT#661

 Hi there!

One of my goals this year is to bust through some of my paper pads, and packs!  Thanks to the creative minds that blog and create card sketches, I can coordinate colors and patterns without worrying about the placement!  This one step, really boosts my creative productivity! To get started, I picked up a paper pad with coordinating colors in it and selected 5-different patterns.  I tried varying patterns of light, medium and dark.  Next, I cut the pieces down into 6 x 6 squares.  Most of the pieces are currently in zip lock project bags at the moment.  When a challenge comes along, I'll grab my bag of pre cut pieces and start designing the card.

Today's card is created from Try a Sketch on Tuesday's monthly card design challenge.  You can join in on the fun here: (TSOT-#661)

I rotated my card into a horizontal top folding card, which measures 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches.  All of these papers coordinated nicely with Stampin Up's Lost Lagoon cardstock, so I used a small piece of left over trim to border the card.  The squares were cut with a 1 3/4 square die.  I liked the size, and it was easier to get the exact shape by die cutting.  (Sometimes I get the paper a little wonky when I try to line things up perfectly!)

I used the new die from Lawn fawn Called Giant Outlined Thanks.  I was really needing to freshen up my thank you dies, and I really liked the clean, modern look of this set. I cut the die in white card stock and then cut another die-cut in SU- Hunter Green cardstock.  I inlaid the darker color inside the white for more of a contrasting look.

Supplies used:

Stampin Up: Lost Lagoon cardstock, Hunter (discontinued)

Michaels: Craftsmith- (Sweet Mint)  12 x 12 paper pad

Accent: (card base) 120# white cardstock

Dies: Lawn Fawn Giant Outlined Thanks

Using the same papers but a different sketch from Tawnie Owl Paperie's-Monthly card making challenge on Face Book (Tawnie Owl), created two more cards!

The die came from Concord and 9th's "Big Huge Thanks" set.  This set has a slimline stamp to step up the die cut if you wish.

All of these paper strips measure 1 inch by three inches.  This helps reduce waste by all total pieces of paper dimensions adding up to 6 x 6 inches.  I have many more cards that will be put together in the near future.  I'm curious just how many cards I'll be able to make!
