Blue Bird on Branch - Inspiration Station Challenge #69
Greetings!
I was inspired by this week's challenge at Inspiration Station's challenge photo of a winter bluebird sitting on a branch in the winter. I was captivated by the bright little bird fluffed up against the grey sky with with a few leaves clinging on the branch. It's amazing how the bird's chest and the leaves matched so closely in color! It's a truly beautiful photo. To play along, click here : (Inspiration Station Challenge #69)
In my card I used a soft blue cardstock to depict the winter background. A Provo Craft Branch with leaves embossing folder was used to give dimension and texture. The bird came from Stampin Up's Perched in a Tree set. It's actually an older set, but I just received it in the mail from my Mom!
To make this card, I began by stamping the bird in Sea Spray ink on Sea Spray color paper. This provided a watercolor mark look on the paper for a "no line" affect in coloring. The bird was colored with Prisma color pencils and fussy cut.
Next a vellum deckled oval was cut and adhered into place. The silver foil branches were placed around. A few gold enamel accents were added as berries in the branches. A few drops of snow was added with a white jelly roll pen.
Thanks for stopping by! -Valerie Kaye
