A Cup of Kindness

Hello!

We are currently hunkered down today waiting for the winter storm to pass.  Midwest in the Spring can have some ferocious weather.

At any rate, I can sow seeds inside and color flowers until the weather decides to warm up.

Today’s theme from Addicted to Clean and Simple is “Garden”

My garden has more flowers than vegetables. but it’s a labor of love.
Some of the favorites in my garden are canterbury bells, and hollyhocks that I started from seed.

For my card today I chose pretty daffodils from Angie Bloom
Digital Designs.

My card is a A2-Horizontal top folding card.
I cut a piece of Fabarino Mixed Media Paper down to 8 1/2 x 11 inches and printed on my HP - Printer.

To overcome the ink bleeding, I sprayed hairspray as a fixative.  You can use other products, but hairspray always works!

The Graphics Fairy has an article on watercoloring printed images that is very helpful.

The panel was watercolored with markers, and then once dried fine details added with the fine tipped ends,
The panel was cut with an arch die and trimmed with a Basic Black arch frame. The Background I initially used a marker, but I went over with a Prisma color pencil #992 - Light Aqua.
The Sentiment from SU-Tasteful Labels was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black Ink
The card was adhered to Hammermill White 110# cardstock base.

Easter Fun Fold

Hello!  I saw a great technique today, that is a Z - fold card with a cross design. The card technique is from Lynn Dunn.  She has both a video and a very helpful download with all the measurements.  Thanks Lynn!  This is a great card for many occasions!  What I like about this design is that the cross is very prominent by the Z-Fold. You can find Lynn’s link:  (Here)   One of the most helpful tools for this project is a simple engineering ruler.  I watched a video from Jennifer McGuire a while back, and it’s a tool she uses often.   I ordered it, and it makes life so much easier.  This ruler is easy to read with all of the markings.  It has both metric and standard markings. (Amazon Link) I looked through my papers and made this card with Stampin Up’s Thoughtful Journey DSP.   The embossed cross pattern is from an Anna Griffin - Border embossing folder.  The pattern is called Blooming Damask.   The sentiment is from ...

Positively Peanuts!

Hello!  The current challenge for the Double D Blog is Love and friendship.   To join in on the challenge: click the link  (HERE) I couldn’t think of a better friendship than Snoopy and Woodstock’s!  I was gifted the Creative Stamping Magazine, issue 156 from my Sister In Law!  I had kind of given up on these stamps, and she happened to see the magazine sitting on the shelf in the bookstore, and was nice to gift me the magazine.   To create this shaker card, I used a frame cutting die from the Past Unity Stamps Whit Kit (No Place Like Home).  I stacked  2 - panels for the top, and 4 - panels for the bottom, using Unity’s Basic Black cards stock. The bottom frame was glued to a slightly larger frame cutting die from Coastal Cabana card stock (SU). The hearts were added from a mini paper punch, with a few extra small beads.   Snoopy and Woodstock were stamped with Versa fine onyx black ink, colored and fussy cut.  I stamped the senti...

Holly Jolly Christmas - AHS#686

Hello!  Today’s card is inspired from Atlantic Hearts Sketch #686 this week, with the sentiment taking center stage in the card front.  To play along, click the link  (HERE) I used this fun die from - A Pocket Full of Sunshine and cut the letters from Poppy Parade card stock  (SU). I used the negative piece of card-stock as a template for alignment and spacing. The back ground was made from a snow cover plate die from Gina Marie Designs (wholesalecrafting supplies.com). I cut a second background with silver cardstock, and used the snow pieces to inlay against the white.  I have lots of dots and letters in my table at the moment…😆 I tried to find a stamp that could be placed on or around the prominent sentiment, and this snowman from SSS - called Wrapped in scarves was the perfect fit. He was colored with markers and embellished with a Wink of Stella pen. I added an action wobbler for movement and dimension.  Thanks for stopping by! - Valerie Kaye
