Relax and Enjoy Your Day! - #322

 Hello!

I’m excited to be joining you this week as guest designer  for Seize the Birthday!

This week’s theme is “Green.” I originally was thinking of evergreens and trees, but then I grabbed this quirky little snail and fun bringing him to life! Isn’t he great?  ðŸ’•

Card Details:

The star of this card is the snail from Unity stamps called “Snailed It.”

I stamped onto Fabriano Mixed Media paper in Evening Evergreen Ink (SU),  and watercolored using a Gumball Green Marker on a glass media mat, with an aquapen.

For my panel, I used Unity’s Postage Stamp Die set, with a green polka dot sheet of paper from Unity’s Domestic Goddess Paper Pack.

I lined the two pieces together, and cut using the postage stamp die.

A strip of Evening Evergreen (SU) was positioned as a border, and trimmed one more time using the die.

I liked the bold script from Stampin’ Up’s On the Horizon Set, and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

The snail was fussy-cut and popped up using mini foam squares (SSS), onto a holographic circle cut from Nature’s Spotlight Die set (SU).

The smaller holographic circle was slipped underneath the popped up snail, and a few iridescent gems were added as embellishment.

I can’t wait to see all of your creations! - Valerie Kaye

Easter Fun Fold

Hello!  I saw a great technique today, that is a Z - fold card with a cross design. The card technique is from Lynn Dunn.  She has both a video and a very helpful download with all the measurements.  Thanks Lynn!  This is a great card for many occasions!  What I like about this design is that the cross is very prominent by the Z-Fold. You can find Lynn’s link:  (Here)   One of the most helpful tools for this project is a simple engineering ruler.  I watched a video from Jennifer McGuire a while back, and it’s a tool she uses often.   I ordered it, and it makes life so much easier.  This ruler is easy to read with all of the markings.  It has both metric and standard markings. (Amazon Link) I looked through my papers and made this card with Stampin Up’s Thoughtful Journey DSP.   The embossed cross pattern is from an Anna Griffin - Border embossing folder.  The pattern is called Blooming Damask.   The sentiment is from ...

Positively Peanuts!

Hello!  The current challenge for the Double D Blog is Love and friendship.   To join in on the challenge: click the link  (HERE) I couldn’t think of a better friendship than Snoopy and Woodstock’s!  I was gifted the Creative Stamping Magazine, issue 156 from my Sister In Law!  I had kind of given up on these stamps, and she happened to see the magazine sitting on the shelf in the bookstore, and was nice to gift me the magazine.   To create this shaker card, I used a frame cutting die from the Past Unity Stamps Whit Kit (No Place Like Home).  I stacked  2 - panels for the top, and 4 - panels for the bottom, using Unity’s Basic Black cards stock. The bottom frame was glued to a slightly larger frame cutting die from Coastal Cabana card stock (SU). The hearts were added from a mini paper punch, with a few extra small beads.   Snoopy and Woodstock were stamped with Versa fine onyx black ink, colored and fussy cut.  I stamped the senti...

Holly Jolly Christmas - AHS#686

Hello!  Today’s card is inspired from Atlantic Hearts Sketch #686 this week, with the sentiment taking center stage in the card front.  To play along, click the link  (HERE) I used this fun die from - A Pocket Full of Sunshine and cut the letters from Poppy Parade card stock  (SU). I used the negative piece of card-stock as a template for alignment and spacing. The back ground was made from a snow cover plate die from Gina Marie Designs (wholesalecrafting supplies.com). I cut a second background with silver cardstock, and used the snow pieces to inlay against the white.  I have lots of dots and letters in my table at the moment…😆 I tried to find a stamp that could be placed on or around the prominent sentiment, and this snowman from SSS - called Wrapped in scarves was the perfect fit. He was colored with markers and embellished with a Wink of Stella pen. I added an action wobbler for movement and dimension.  Thanks for stopping by! - Valerie Kaye
