Use those left-overs!-HollyandIvy Challenge #188

We all have them lurking somewhere in the craft room.  Maybe in a basket, a dish, or a box are the discarded pieces from projects.

I keep my leftovers organized by unused cardstock cut into 4 x 5 1/4 rectangles.

Die cuts are kept in a plastic photo box.

Strips are sorted by color.

Negative pieces from dies are right by my die cut machine so they can be used right away.

Here are the cards:

I only added three pieces to finish this card!  I actually had the negative white arch left over from a card I made last year.

Digging through my box I found the vellum oval. and tree.

To make this card, I added texture to the negative arch mat by running it through an embossing folder.  The left over Night of Navy cardstock was glued into the opening.  The oval, silver heat embossed tree, were then adhered to the center.  The Paper Trey Ink Noel die was cut from Night of Navy Cardstock, and glued with a fine tip glue pen.  A hollographic star was added to the top, and silver stickles were added to add extra dimension to the tree.

Card number 2:  I had a second silver heat embossed tree, so I used my paper that was already out to finish the card.

I found a card sketch from Pinterest (thanks to Stampinpretty.com) to help boost my creativity.  This was just the visual idea I needed to frame that Christmas tree.

Card 3:  I used the same card layout as above.  I used DSP from Stampin Up’s Night Divine paper pack.  I stamped the Holy Family on the tag and colored with Prismacolor pencils.  Silver glitter stickles was added to the halo and trim of the clothing.  The sentiment was white heat embossed, and the star, (leftover from another card) was added to the corner.

And finally, card 4:

I saw a picture of a tag on pinterest with the negative part of the tree showing checked patterned paper through, which was my starting point for this card.

I did not have a checked pattern that worked well, but loved this paper from Michael’s Recollections paper pack that looked like garland.

The card mat measures 4 x 5 1/4 inches.  The center strip measures 2 x 4 inches.

3 - trees were die cut and sandwiched together, and glued to the center of a white tag.  The stamped “Tis the Season” (Stampin Up Etoile Christmas) banner, and the foil heart were the leftover pieces used to finish the card.

So don’t throw those little bits and pieces away, they might be just what you need to finish the next card!

Thanks for stopping by!
