Lemony Birthday Wishes - Sketch Challenge #28 Tawnie Owl Paperie
Greetings!
It's grey and snowy in the Midwest today, but I am feeling sunny! I'm working on organizing projects ahead for this year and have a lot of papers, stamps and dies on my craft room floor. Laying things together helps me visualize how they will work in projects.
I love giving themed gifts, and this year I am going to try to incorporate a set of gift cards with each gift basket or box.
I got on a roll with the theme of fruits, and pulled out lemon dies, berry stamps, and oranges! I didn't realize how many I have accumulated.
As the year progresses, I will work these themes into gift baskets. The berry set will make nice jam toppers, and tags. A card set will also be included, nestled inside a berry or bushel basket.
The lemon set, can easily be used with lemon curd and a scone recipe, and the oranges can be used for a package with a juicer and fun tea towels.
You could have tons of fun organizing tons of different themed baskets!
For today, I was inspired to make a lemon happy birthday card. This card is part of Tawnie Owl Paperie's monthly sketch challenge. Join in on the fun here: Tawnie Owl Paperie I veered of a little bit from the sketch, using hexagons rather than rectangles, but I liked the contrast of the geometric shapes against the lemons.
To begin, I chose 3-complimentary shades of green (light, medium and dark). I die cut the lightest shade as the background hexagons. The medium and dark shades were used to make the lemon leaves. I then die cut the lemons, and sponged daffodil delight ink to the edges.
A Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped, and die cut over the leaves. I did not have dimensional foam, so I die cut two additional banner dies, and glued them together for the same effect. Enamel dimensional dots were added to the center of the flowers.
Thanks for stopping by! - Valerie Kaye
